    Well, MadHat has been threatening me and now he has finally gone and done it.

        - Bye bye Tipp Inn
    Well, the Tipperary Inn is closing it's doors yet again. That means we are lookin for a place to meet again. *sigh*
    Well, I am lazy and want to keep it closer to downtown or uptown. I know there are quite a few poeple who live up north, so I am nt ruing it out. Whatever we pick I am going to try and make it easier to get to than the Tipp was. I'll let you know. Stay tuned. Join the mailing list, and check back here.

        - March Meeting
    Well, I think the meeting went well. We had the usual gnews and a presentation from myself (MadHat) on a new tool. The new meeting location (the Tipperary Inn) seems to be going over well. We had a couple of new members, and a few old timers show up, as well as everyone else. Overall we had about 12 people. The only issue thus far is that they won't split the tab.

    Talk of the Pub Crawl coming up went well. Remember that is coming up on March 26. We are working to finalize the TShirts. I should have something on the site soon about it.

    Speaking of the site, it has been updated, so check that shit out. The gnews and presentation slides are up.

    The next meetign is April 8, 2009 and we will have a presentation from "Jean-Claud AskMe" on asterisk.

        - Next Meeting, Pub Crawl & Facebook
    Well, the next meeting is scheduled for next Wednesday the 11th. We will be meeting at the Tipperary Inn again, upstairs. They keep saying they will add us to their calendar, but it has not happened yet.

    I announced to the mailing list today that we will be starting monthly Pub Crawls. Our first one will be in Uptown, starting at the Idle Rich. They will be heald the last Thursday of each month. Come and join in the drinking and what should prove to be interesting discussions.

    Lastly, I created a DC214 Facebook group. This is really to have an easy way to see when the next meeting is and who is speaking. We will have a speaker this month, so stay tuned.

        - Tonight's Meeting
    I had to stay home with the kiddo tonight, but WT took my place at the meeting. If we can't get a sitter we'll end up splitting duty.

    The report thus far is that the Tipperary Inn is a good location. I think we will go ahead and meet there next month as well. I will get WT to confirm tonight that those who made it agree, and if so will make the reservation for next month.

    We are now looking for presenters for the next few months. WT and I are working on an idea we had, but it won't be ready right away. If you have an idea about any aspect of information security or design manipulation (making something work other than the way it was designed to work. code issues, design flaws, bad configurations, etc...) or anything really interesting let Isac (piis8(at)yahoo(dot)com) and/or myself know.

        - DC214 is in a holding patern.
    We are looking for a new location to meet and working on how we want to take the group. MadHat and PiIs8 (Isac) are looking for speakers and suggestions on how to revive this beast. Let us know. In the mean time, join the mailing list or silc channel. Neither is all that busy.

        - December meeting
    Decembers meeting will be a the Flying Saucer in Addison. Depending how things work out stay tuned for a more permenent meeting location.

        - November meeting
    oops, Pugsley's was boarded up. Phone calls were made at the 11th hour. No meeting this month, Sorry! Stay tuned for the new meeting location.

        - September meeting
    Arrakis came in and did his presentation from defcon on anonymity and it was well received. I'll upload the slide when I find them (oops). Isac was not available to do the news but was nice enough to send them to me before hand. Next month I will be presenting on the new features of nmap and umit, the new nmap GUI.

        - DC WrapUp, DC972 et al
    Our August meeting went well and was the DefCon wrapup meeting. Lots of interesting stuff from defson this year. Isac is kickin ass with the news and all the slides are now uploaded to the presentations page. The next meeting will be DC214's 4th anniversary, and we had a discussion that we will have a new sister group dc972. They arer working on details of where they will be meeting, but it will most likely be north of 635 for all the people too lazy to drive 2 miles south of it... hehehe. Seriously, DC214 and DC972 will be working together to provide presenters and news to provide all of DFW with a great experience. We are also thinking about having DC-DFW parties from time to time to get the 2 groups together. Stay tuned to both sites for more details.

    The mailing list is up and running on mailman now. Our July meeting went well. Isac is doing a great job with the news and all the slides are now uploaded to the presentations page. I am still looking for presenters, so feel free to email me.

        - March Meeting
    We had another good meeting. Once again about 20 people showed up, som new faces, some new regulars and ... well, the old regulars were lame and didn't show. Isac did another great job with the news for the month and I did a review of the top 50 security tools from the top 100 sectools.org website run by fyodor.     We had a great meeting. About 20 people showed up, Isac did a great job with the news again, followed by a very informative talk on Vista and it's new security features.

        - January Meeting
    We had a great meeting, and I am sorry the turnout was not better, since so many missed a good night. We watched robot chicken from 6-7, Isac did a kick ass job on a presentation covering the news of the past month, then Dave Josephsen did a very interesting and informative presentation on Short-lived BGP Prefix Hijacking, followed by a lot of discussion.
